A/ ay /: The letter A (capital A, lowercase a). It makes the short a sound, /a/, as in apple and ant. A can also say its own name, the long a, as in cake.
E/ ee /: The letter E (capital E, lowercase e). It makes the short e sound, /e/, as in egg and elephant. E can also say its own name, the long e, as in tree.
I/ eye /: The letter I (capital I, lowercase i). It makes the short i sound, /i/, as in igloo and insect. I can also say its own name, the long i, as in bike.
O/ oh /: The letter O (capital O, lowercase o). It makes the short o sound, /o/, as in octopus and orange. O can also say its own name, the long o, as in boat.
U/ yoo /: The letter U (capital U, lowercase u). It makes the short u sound, /u/, as in umbrella and up. U can also say its own name, the long u, as in cube.

Y/ wy /: The letter Y (capital Y, lowercase y). It makes the /y/ sound at the start of words, as in yo-yo and yellow. Y can also act like a vowel, as in happy and my.
Z/ zee /: The letter Z (capital Z, lowercase z). It makes the /z/ sound, as in zebra and zip.
