Terms of Service

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. If you use it on behalf of a company or school, you confirm that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

Your account

On iOS the app creates an anonymous account when it first runs. You can sign in with Apple or Google at any time; when you do, the progress from the anonymous account is merged into the signed-in one. On the website you sign in with Google. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your Apple or Google credentials safe. Give us accurate information and keep one account per person.

What SubjectCards is

SubjectCards provides flashcard decks with audio, a spaced-repetition study schedule, and a feature that turns a phrase you type into a card using an AI model. It is a study tool. It is not a translation or interpreting service, and it is not a substitute for a teacher. Do not rely on a card in a situation where a wrong word would cause harm, such as medical, legal, or safety-critical communication.

SubjectCards Premium on iOS

The iOS app is free to use with a limited library, one language, and three custom cards. SubjectCards Premium unlocks the full library in every language and unlimited custom cards. Premium is an auto-renewable subscription sold through Apple:

• Premium Monthly: $6.99 per month.
• Premium Annual: $39.99 per year, with a 7-day free trial.

Prices are in US dollars and may differ in your country; the exact price is shown in the app before you confirm. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase, or at the end of the free trial if you do not cancel before it ends. The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends. You can manage or cancel the subscription in your App Store account settings after purchase. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under its policies; we cannot issue them ourselves.

Free-tier limits, including the number of custom cards and the number of cards you can generate per day, may change; the app always shows the current limit.

Deck purchases on the website

On subjectcards.com, decks are sold as one-time purchases at the price shown on each deck's page, processed by Stripe. A purchase gives you access to that deck on the website for as long as we operate the web service; "lifetime access" means the life of the Service, not yours. Because a deck is digital content you can use immediately, sales are final except where the law gives you a right to a refund. If a deck does not work as described, email [email protected] and we will fix it or make it right.

Web deck purchases and iOS Premium are separate products. Buying one does not include the other. We may change prices for future purchases at any time; a change never affects a deck you have already bought or a subscription period you have already paid for.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Submit phrases that are unlawful, hateful, sexual, violent, or aimed at manipulating the AI model. The generator rejects them, and repeated attempts may lead to suspension.
• Use scripts, bots, or multiple accounts to get around generation limits or the free-tier cap.
• Copy, scrape, or bulk-export the library decks or their audio, or use them to build a competing product or dataset.
• Resell, share, or sublicense your access.
• Reverse-engineer the app or the Service beyond what the law allows.
• Interfere with the Service, its servers, or other users.

Your content

The phrases you type and the deck names you choose are yours. You give us a limited licence to store, process, and transmit them, including to the AI providers named in the Privacy Policy, solely to provide the Service to you. We do not use them to train AI models. You are responsible for what you submit. Cards and audio generated from your phrases are for your personal learning within the Service.

AI-generated cards

Cards made from your phrases are written by an AI model and voiced by a speech engine. We work hard on the prompts, but a card can still be unnatural, wrong for the situation, or simply wrong. Audio is synthetic, not a recording of a native speaker. We do not guarantee the accuracy of any generated card. Treat it as a draft from a helpful tutor, and check with a person before you rely on it for anything important.

Intellectual property

The Service, the library decks, their audio, and the SubjectCards name and design belong to TrueStandard Labs LLC or its licensors. Buying a deck or subscribing gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to study that content within the Service; it does not transfer ownership.

Third-party services

Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, the App Store, RevenueCat, and Stripe are provided by their respective companies under their own terms, which apply to your use of them. We are not responsible for those services.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any card will be accurate.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, TrueStandard Labs LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$50. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply to the extent permitted.

Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold harmless TrueStandard Labs LLC and its officers, members, and agents from claims, damages, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your content, your breach of these Terms, or your misuse of the Service.

Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account by email. We may suspend or terminate your access if you break these Terms, and we may discontinue the Service with reasonable notice. The sections on your content, intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law survive termination.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Before starting a legal claim, email us and give us 30 days to resolve it informally. Any dispute that is not resolved will be brought exclusively in the state and federal courts located in Texas, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing here limits any consumer rights you have under the law of the place where you live.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The date at the top tells you when they last changed. If a change is material, we will say so in the app or on the website before it takes effect. Using the Service after that date means you accept the updated Terms.
