Which Spanish set should you start with?
The decks split by why you are learning rather than by level. Start with the row that matches yours.
| You are | Start with | Add next | Why this order |
|---|---|---|---|
| Going on a trip | Spanish for Tourists | Practical Spanish | Ordering, directions and prices are fixed exchanges. Learn them as phrases and you can use them the day you land. |
| Staying a few months or working | Practical Spanish | Advanced Spanish | Markets, appointments and small talk need more than the tourist script, but not yet the formal register. |
| Talking with family or in-laws | Advanced Spanish - Cultural Integration | Learn Spanish Fast | Family Spanish is where respect terms and regional turns of phrase matter, and where textbook Spanish sounds stiff. |
| Starting from zero | Learn Spanish Fast | Spanish for Tourists | The 200-word core covers the verbs and connectors every later set assumes you already have. |
| Teaching a child | Spanish for Kids | Animals, Food, Colors, Weather | Short themed sets finish quickly, and a finished set is what makes a child want the next one. |
Where beginners lose time in Spanish
Spanish rewards beginners faster than most languages. The spelling is close to phonetic, so once you know the five vowel sounds you can read a word you have never seen and be understood. That is a real head start over French or English.
Two things still cost people months. The first is gender: every noun is masculine or feminine, and the article and any adjective have to agree with it. Learning a noun without its article means learning it twice, which is why the food and colour sets teach el and la as part of the word.
The second is ser against estar. Both mean to be, and the split is roughly permanent against temporary, but the edges are where meaning changes: es aburrido is a boring person, está aburrido is a bored one. No rule covers every case, so this is learned by exposure to real examples rather than by memorising the rule.
The last hurdle is not knowledge at all, it is speed. Learners who read Spanish comfortably still stall the first time a native speaker talks at full pace. The fix is hearing the words said properly from the start, which is what the audio on every card is for.
